ABOUT FUNAI

Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, FUNAI is among the 12 universities inaugurated by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) in 2011. Located in Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo Local Government, Ebonyi State. Currently as at this year 2015, the University has the following faculties:

The School Fees.
As at now (2015) Funai still maintains the feels below:
100 Level = N 60,000 (School Fees) and N 10, 000 (Acceptance fee).
200Level = N 58,000 (School Fees)
300Level = N 58,000 (School Fees)
Note: Accommodation fee lies inside the school fees for all levels, with a provision of bed, foam, pillow, water supply, electricity etc.
The Campus.
Funai campus is a serene environment suitable for learning, devoid of cultism and social vices. With the strictness of the school administration, there is no room for violence.
The Hostel.
There exist a principle from the foundation, to provide accommodation for all students that are admitted. Therefore there are no worries if hostels exist. With her large land scale, Funai currently embarks on a project of building expansion among which the students magnificent hostels.
The hostels are amazingly built with Tiles, many rooms with toilet and bathroom and fan to cool the internal temperature. The hostel compounds are also saturated with interlocking Tiles. Never forget that Male and Female hostels are separated. No entry of opposite gender hostel.
Funai Kitchen.

Unlike many academic institutions in Nigeria where students are prohibited from cooking, Funai students are provided with enough kitchen to serve the hostels. So no need to worry on how to survive.
ICT Facilities.
To set a pace for a 21st century university, Funai provides students free internet services through the campus Wi-Fi and the provision of Computer Hall where staff and students comes to utilise the computer systems for multipurpose. The university Wi-Fi range has been outstretched to enable students surf the net free which in their rooms and beds and wherever in the campus.
Library Facility.
To produce students of Excellence and Integrity, there exist a 21st century standard library accessible from 8:00am to 9:30pm Mondays-Saturdays. It is a library filled with Air Conditioners, where the World Wide Web is merged into the physical library through the Library Wi-Fi.
Adequate Power Supply.
Over the years Funai has maintained an ideal power supply from 8:00am-4:30pm and 7:00pm-10 or 11:00pm (Mondays-Fridays), 9:00am-12:00pm and 7:00pm-10 or 11:00pm (Saturdays) and 8:00am-12:00pm and 7:00pm-10 or 11:00pm (Sundays).
Class Rooms.
With a multimedia class room Funai properly proofs to be a world class university. The classes are well furnished with seats suitable for learning and wall projectors and Computer Systems in each class room.
E-Learning.
The best keyword to use is e-learning. Where learning has no hand-outs imposed on students by lecturers. This is the utmost benefit students have in comparison to other higher institutions. The Hand out “saga”, as we all know, in Nigerian institutions has sucked dry the pockets of innocent students to enrich the lecturers in the name of “learning”. But from the foundation it has been a “no-go-area” for all lecturers. This law is strictly followed.
Rather e-learning exist where lecturers prepare PowerPoint slides to project on the wall for a better learning. After each lecture, the PowerPoint Lecture softcopy is distributed to students for free and they go reading them on their devices.
Therefore all aspirants of this institution are advised to possess any of these modern day phones, computer and other devices in other to adapt to the technological flow of Funai.
Uninterrupted academic process.
The academic process of this great institution has remained uninterrupted since its foundation. It has never got affected by the strikes fluctuating the academic processes of other institutions. The Vice Chancellor in his speech at the 2nd Matriculation Ceremony, 2013, promised that he will do all to his abilities never to allow Funai to be subject to strike.

FUNAI HOST 2015 SOUTH-EAST UNIVERSITIES GAME (SEUGA)

The 2015 South-East Universities Game (SEUGA) is here again, but this time around to be hosted by this young University located in Ebonyi Sate; Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNIA) by name. It is a merging of the Universities in the Eastern part of the Nation. Universities from Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra and Imo states are expected to be evenly represented in 2015 SEUGA Funai.

Funai Land with all her correspondents will be in SEUGA 2015 to fulfill the commitment of reporting the event live from Ikwo, Ebonyi State.

Anambra State University (ANSU) just arrived on (Monday13th,  Jan 2015) while Enugu State University of Science sand Technology and Ebonyi Sate University arrived this morning (Tuesday13th,  Jan 2015). Other Universities are yet to arrive to commence registration. While the opening ceremony of 2015 SEUGA sparks up on Wednesday 14th, 2015

FUNAI 2014/2015 THIRD LIST ASPIRANTS GIVEN UP AS FUNAI MATRICULATES

The Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo finally celebrated her 3rd Matriculation ceremony on the 10th day of December 2014. The event was the 3rd of its kind in the history of the university as freshmen were sworn in to the university system. Present at the great event were dignitaries from different spheres of life in academia. Among which was The Vice Chancellor Distinguished Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe ( OFR, FAS, FAENG), The Registrar, Deans of Faculties, HODs, DAP, Staffs, Students, Matriculating students, guests, just to mention but a few. 

Though it was a moment of elation, but on the side of the aspirants, (who beyond all odds hoped against hope for the release of the third admission list), it was a moment of frustration and tears of pain and not of joy, as the commencement of the matriculation gave a big hut to their faith.

Though a 200 Level student of Funai, I also found myself buried in pathetic mood while those calls came, both on Whatsapp they came asking whether there was still hope of third list even at the 11th hour. But as a motivator I bade them never to give up, though Matriculation day was now counting down in hours. Before our bare eyes, the third list aspirants were denied admission due to unreasonable accommodation issue.

To those beloved Funai aspirants who never made it in the 2014/2015 session, I say “It is not yet over until it is over”, “Remover the sadness, rise up and make your obstacles your stepping stones”. “To Asogwa Victoria, to you aspirant, it is not over. Pick up the Jamb form; go dust your Jamb past question and start afresh. My motivation; Thomas Edison failed 999 times and gave us ELECTRIC BULB. “

Come 2015 Funai will admit up to a thousand beating its past record. I make this statement in view of the progress of the multiple accommodation process going on in the University permanent site. Since Funai admission is tagged to accommodation available, then there would be more people to be admitted next year than ever before.

THE HOPE OF FUNAI 2014/2015 THIRD ADMISSION LIST

It has been a deep thought whether the University will release third admission list this time around, haven seen the great challenges faced by the school. Challenges such as the mandate of providing accommodation for every admitted student of FUNAI. But it has proved abortive as the university is unable to accommodate her desired maximum number of students to be admitted this year. Though there still remains a great hope in the perspective of the dreams and projects of the University; the project of the ongoing magnificent hostel construction almost at its completion, but when urgency is at sight delaying factors are set aside. The academic activities are too urgent to be I procession than to wait for the completion of the hostel project. Therefore, the tendency of releasing the third admission list is at risk. According to the university’s academic calendar, FUNAI 2014/2015 Matriculation Ceremony is to take place on the 26th day of November, 2014. As experience may have it, FUNAI must give all admission before Matriculation day. If we are to make a countdown from today(The day of publishing this article being 21st day of November, 2014), it is exactly 5 days to the Matriculation and the Third Admission list is not yet out. I give this analysis to clarify the unrest minds about this year’s admission systems of The Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, FUNAI. On Wednesday 19th November, 2014, the Universality Senate had a meeting of which I believe the Third list and accommodation issues were deliberated upon. This means that if the outcome of the Senate meeting was positive, then candidates are to expect the release of the third admission list before the November 26th (Few days from now), but if negative because of the accommodation challenges, then it means that there would be no third list. If at all there will be third list, then only a few candidates will be admitted, usually into the departments of French, Linguistics, Music, History etc. Therefore, as a Christian I give you a piece of my admonition that Prayer to GOD almighty is required these few days to enable FUNAI decisions be to your FAVOUR.
