THE DOs AND DON'TS IN FUNAI HOSTEL

It is obvious that most students (freshers) on their first arrival in school, to start the year’s academic session with home materials: such as foam, electric iron and kettle, pillow etc. Now in line with the school facilities and demands, freshers are advised never to arrive to the campus with the following: Electric Iron Electric Cooker Electric Kettle Foam Pillow Foam and Pillow is rightly provided for every student in the room. So you are to arrive with your bedspread and pillow case. Any attempt to make use of Electric Iron in the hostel will be considered a peccadillo (A minor punishable offence). It should not also be heard by the hostel portals that a student cooks with Electric cooker, makes use of electric boiler or kettle. Many may ask why on earth they shouldn’t allow the use of electric iron in the hostel. The reason has never been unveiled to any student rather it will be tagged on the “obey before complain” list. By-the-way, while packing into the hostel, you are asked to read and sign against the hostel rules and regulations. Your signature speaks that you accept the rules, regulations, terms and conditions abiding in the hostel. Due to the provision of a general kitchen separated from the room blocks, it is counted a taboo to be found cooking in your room for whatsoever reason it may be. All these and many more rules and more hostel does and Don’ts are enforced by hostel enforcement agencies called THE POTTERS and THE POTTRESSES. So beware! Never offend the laws of the Potters or Pottress, they represent the school. Never get caught cooking in the room. They’ll place the stove and pot in your hands and take you a snapshot. Never get caught ironing your cloth in the hostel, they’ll seize the iron. Never package excreta and throw it like shot-put into Ikwo Rice farm, your name will enter blacklist. Never step into your opposite sex hotel till you graduate, if you do! You’ll go home (and maybe buy jamb form and start again). What do you think about these heartbreaking hostel does and don’ts?
